Mythos Challenge is an annual Youth-Led Storytelling, Gaming, and Apps Project in Oregon.
The Mythos Challenge invites you to create an interactive story, analog or digital game, or a mobile/web app inspired by a theme.
Each year the theme is inspired by a special exhibition at the Portland Art Museum selected by a Youth Council. Each theme is a challenge to create real-world meaning for our communities.
At the end of the Challenge, you are invited to the Awards Celebration.
The Challenge celebrates youth-voice and encourages us to become leaders. We are digital innovators, community builders, and creative designers. Join the 2017 Mythos Challenge!

Last year's Challenge Theme was Space and Place and was inspired by Portland Art Museum's special exhibition Case Work: Studies in Form, Space & Construction by Brad Cloepfil/Allied Works Architecture. The Space and Place theme consisted of three sections - Shape, Design, and Materials - all of which had different definitions and modifies to be used to kick start research and development for entrant projects.
In 2015, we launched the Mythos Challenge with the theme Gods and Heroes inspired by Gods and Heroes: Masterpieces of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris at the Portland Art Museum.
The Mythos Challenge is a collaboration of community partners and endorsers. The Mythos Youth Council is supported by Pixel Arts Game Education, the Portland Art Museum, PNCA's Make+ Think+ Code+, ChickTech, Innovation Academy, Multnomah County Libraries, and Girls, Inc. of the Pacific NW.
The 2017 Challenge is sponsored by Pixel Arts Game Education and by the generous support of the East Metro STEAM Partnership.
